Lucy Lawless, a New Zealand-born actress and singer, is a well-known name within the entertainment industry. Her most famous performances are Xena Warrior Princess and Spartacus Blood and Sand. As an actress she is the most well-known and appreciated for her role she played in Xena. Lucy was given the role originally intended for Vanessa Angel, but she was unable to attend because of illness. The character was one of the top TV shows during the period when the show aired. Lucy's performance as Xena proved to be so popular that she was able to get a spin-off series and it was released in the month of September, 1995. Following the spin-off, the show suffered another setback in ratings and cultural significance which made the show run for six seasons. It also helped boost Lucy's recognition as an actor. In addition to being known by her fans as Xena Lucy is known for her role as Diane Lewis Swanson from NBC's hit comedy Parks and Recreation where she appeared between 2012 and 2015.
