Linda Blair

Linda Linda LindaAt the age of just five Linda Blair had to get used to the spotlight, first as child models and later as an actor, after out of a field of nearly 600 candidates she was chosen to play the part of Regan as the possessed child and actress for the film The Exorcist (1973). Linda quickly rose to world fame and won the Golden Globe, and seemed likely to receive an Academy Award for that role, but when it leaked how some parts of the role did not get done by the actress herself (the demon voice was recorded by Mercedes McCambridge, and eight seconds of a stunt dummy used) this dream fell apart and, with it, probably came the first blow that could have been the beginning of an A-list career. Over the next few years she didn't have any trouble getting the lead role in a range of film productions, such as the wildly successful television series Born Innocent (1974) (the most watched TV show that year) as well as Sarah T. - Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic (1975) and her role in the Exorcist sequel Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977). After she snagged cocaine due to influence from her friends at the age of 18 this resulted in her arrest and sentence of three years' probation. Linda was blacklisted by Hollywood after the highly-publicized drug bust. The career of Linda was limited to B movies and television appearances.
